[ An absolute showoff. It's his natural right. Finn finds himself in a position he often lands in-- generally just sort of wishing there was a lightsaber or very, very big gun around. Guns he's better with. But lightsabers must make really good last-ditch "don't get eaten" preventatives.

So anyone from his home universe fell off the face of the colony. And possibly anyone he knew in Riverview in general. So he's not what anyone could call hopeful about that being a good thing, him ever getting home, or actually seeing the same versions of those people again. Not getting eaten by a big gross tentacle meatball is still very high on his priorities list.

Finn has standards. Finn does not actively seek out monsters with mouths he may throw himself into. He's still gonna push through one day at a time, one weird, dangerous, hateable sequence of events at a time. Which is kind of like being back home anyway. People could make a club for that here.

What he does have on this occasion is a dream, the will to make it happen, a decent knife, and about 10 more minutes of a Fire Shield charm courtesy of a pendant he got like a year ago or so. Also some relief that there's webbing gumming up the works and that Peter still has the ceiling on his side. This is already going way better than the last time he was up close and personal with one of these things. ]

Yeah, most things do!

[ Bright side: the rathtar seems especially preoccupied with trying to de-web itself. Unfortunate side: it still has tentacles a-plentacles to thrash around with. It's trying to aim more swipes towards Peter because (like most things in Star Wars) it's mad and petty. Finn does a cool job of getting his legs swept out from under him, which does a cool job of fire damaging a tentacle, which he then does a fair to middling job of hacking at with his knife.

It's not graceful. It's not suave. But he's not en route to a half-webby nightmare mouth and that means a lot to him personally. ]

I've always hated these!
