Jeff makes sure to follow Waltz's lead, because for all that they've clashed, he can recognize that the other man's got way more experience with stealth and high stakes stuff than he has. No way is he gonna let his ego and hurt feelings get in the way of actual survival here.

So he's quiet, so determined to stay silent that he's holding onto his breath without even realizing it. And when Cam reaches for him, his hand brushes his hip, then brushes the puppy nestled in his shirt, who responds with a whimper and a whine, like it, too, recognizes a potential savior in Waltz.

Unfortunately, the dog doesn't have any concept of strategy, because as soon as it lets out that tiny whimper, it totally gives their position away to the boars. They're charging, and they're coming fast.

Jeff looks at Cam, wide-eyed and on the verge of panic. Look, he wants to stay calm and strategize here, look to the more experienced man for a plan of action, and execute their escape without any fuckups. But he's a civilian through and through, and all he can really manage in the moment is: "Shit!"
