And so he makes his way into the... 'storage room,' and if that distinction is important to Cole then a storage room it is, and settles himself down on the floor, cross-legged, setting the present for Cole down on his knee. Ben wonders what 'she' Cole is talking about and what happened. He thinks it without being able to stop himself. But now that he knows Cole will be able to pick up on at least some of his thoughts, or at the very least the emotions that come with - that feeling of interest and curiosity - he is making adjustments.
"You don't have to tell me that."
Ben pushes his hood back, patting his hair into place quickly, an automatic action as he tries to think how he could reword his question. It's such a simple question, so fundamental, that explaining it is difficult.
"I... want to know if you are well. Has anything interesting happened to you, recently? Are you feeling alright?" A little smile quirks the corner of his mouth and he adds, "Not all of us are Compassion and have powers that let us just know how somebody's doing. Some of us have gotta ask."
