Klaus hears them before he sees them, or at least he hears one of them, sorta like she's talking on a phone or something because he can only hear half the conversation. It doesn't really seem like a big deal at first, especially because he's mostly invested in getting down to the spa before something awful can happen again. The less of his precious bath time disrupted the better, as far as he's concerned.
But when he rounds the corner and sees a teenage girl walking along beside a ghost. He knows it's a ghost because she's not screaming or crying but her dress is covered in blood and she occasionally glitches like static on a TV.
