She ends up with the animals in the most desperate need of warmth tucked in her pockets and held close against her skin, and she ends up with the utter certainty that this man's opinion of her hit rock bottom, then grabbed a shovel and got to work. Still, he's strong, and large enough to handle the blanket bundle of cases on his own, and she would not be able to do this anywhere near as quickly without his help. So she is grateful, even though he brings up every buried insecurity, the undeniable knowledge that she's an embarrassment at best.

He follows her up the levels, back to her lab, where the heating still works, and she can help them. The first thing she does is peel out of her coat, laying it on a counter and bundling up the most susceptible animals in it to take advantage of her residual body heat, the way she did in her bunk. "Can you line the containers up on the counter? I need to get a look at everybody." And she should probably change into some scrubs. Anything that doesn't have cartoon penguins on it, really.
