Kabal insisting that what he's doing is beneficial -- 'exactly the end we wanted,' he says -- just makes Carlisle more furious. Wisps of magical energy rise from his eyes like smoke, forming plumes in the air around him. In his ire, he doesn't catch that Kabal is taken aback by the revelation, nor the implication that he's talking about his own past rather than Carlisle and his abilities.
As it turns out, losing his temper makes him lose a great deal of his discretion, as well. "Know about what?" he spits, seething. "All the horrible things I've done? Because it's what I do now, apparently. It's what I'm good for! I can heal, sure, but you know what'd be great? Rotting holes in walls, draining the life out of everything within arm's reach, and uncontrollably raising the dead. What a productive and useful member of this place I am with skills like that!
