Jacob Frye Catch-All
Who: Jacob Frye + OPEN
What: Various: causing trouble, planning trouble, generally trouble
When: March? March. March is good!
Where: Anchor, different spots here and there.
Sequence 1: Take a Leap of Faith - OPEN
If you could ask Jacob Frye what the best thing about being an assassin was, he wouldn't even have to think about the answer.
For a start, there is very little about being an assassin that he very much likes. The fighting is fun, but you don't need to be an assassin to get into a fight club, or a gang for that matter. Assassins don't generally fight if they can help it either, they're meant to sneak in, find their target, dispatch them, leave. The weapons? They're fun, the gauntlet is one of his dearest possessions. But it doesn't come close to the thrill of free falling.
Breath snatched from your lungs, heart beating against your ribs, adrenaline filling every inch of you as the wind whistles past.
It's dangerous, he knows that. One tiny miscalculation can kill you, and when you're leaping from such high points there is no room for error. Maybe that's another part of the excitement. Cheating death.
He'd done it in the City, of course he had. But somehow in Anchor, that central cavernous space above the park calls to him. So much open space between one side and the other, so little to get in your way.
Even just stood here, on the ledge of one of the many levels, he feels his heartbeat begin to race. He's picking his spot, working out the landing and simply enjoying the anticipation of it. Anyone passing by might be very concerned to see a man stood there on the very edge, so high from the ground.
But those watching from below might be surprised to see him fall: arms outstretched and wind whipping at his coat, free-falling and then turning, landing on his back in a pile of leaves the little robotic gardens have been collecting from the green space and helpfully left laying around.
They might be more surprised to see him get out with a huge grin, and no visible injuries, then pull his hat from his pocket and put it back on.
Sequence 2: A Moonshiner Mission - CLOSED TO ANGEL
He's been toying with the idea for a few days. He's not a brewer, just a drinker, but it can't be too hard. People do it at home in their kitchens out in the countryside. They should be able to do it here, and that way he can actually drink something that isn't either piss or a tequila sunrise.
Not that he can complain about the tequila, it's not that bad and besides, Angel likes them.
The boys are out, and Jacob's flicking through the binder of information she made them absently, without really taking in anything new. There's diagrams and explanations of complicated scientific terms and chemical reactions. Evie would have loved it.
"You know a lot about science, right?" He asks her, testing the water.
He has questions. A lot of questions, and he's not sure Cold is going to give him any answers. He seems the sort to keep a lot of things close to his chest. Maybe a drink, the offer of a friendly chat will relax the tension. Jacob hopes so, he likes the guy even if he is rather cold and detached. Ha, Cold.
He sets a drink down in front of him as he takes a swallow from his own. It's alcoholic, which is good.
"You and that guy have history." He prompts, as he takes his seat.

Sequence 3: All is Complicated in Love and War: CLOSED TO LEN SNART (and backdated)
Cold doesn't seem the worst for wear, considering he was almost drowned. Jacob has survived a number of things he shouldn't have, he can appreciate that afterwards you normally want a stiff drink. He certainly needs one, after the freezing water and that fight. He has questions. A lot of questions, and he's not sure Cold is going to give him any answers. He seems the sort to keep a lot of things close to his chest. Maybe a drink, the offer of a friendly chat will relax the tension. Sequence 4: Pick Your Own Adventure - OPEN

"Could loot some bedrooms. / Set up a few mattresses, / land on top of those."
Maybe encouraging someone to take a nose dive from the highest point of Anchor isn't the most responsible thing to do, but fuck it! Follow your heart, you crazy bastard. Zer0 needs a sidequest anyway, and it wouldn't be the stupidest thing he's ever helped someone do just for shits and giggles.
no subject
"Have you seen the state of some of those things?"
He's less likely to break his neck maybe, but he's certainly going to catch something nasty off those stained, mouldy and probably contaminated things. He has no problem swimming in the open sewer that is the Thames, but touching a dirty mattress? Gross.
"How deep do you reckon that lake is?" Because that is an option. Some people think that hitting water at speed is like hitting the ground, but not for Jacob. No matter how high he jumps from, he always seems to make the landing, as long as he's got the right stuff to land in.
no subject
Or maybe people have just been sleeping on dirty trash mattresses this whole time. That wouldn't have been weird on Pandora, but this place is a lot cleaner in general. There's gotta be some way to clean the mattresses.
That is literally the least important thing right now, though, the priority is helping this dude to do something super super stupid for shits and giggles.
"I haven't checked that, / I would assume pretty deep. / One way to find out." Well, several ways to find out, but just one really fun and dumbass way. Obviously Jacob needs to dive in from the highest point of Anchor, GO GO GO.
no subject
But he still don't trust that landing on mattresses is a good idea. He'll stick to what he knows.
"Oh, certainly. You in?" He asks, because he knows he's being egged on. Well, he knows he can make the jump, and as he speaks he looks over to the body of water, considering it. "Everything is more fun with two."
no subject
"Oh, absolutely. / Questionable life choices / are more fun this way."
Hell, he'll probably jump off the damn thing, too. YOLO.
no subject
"Alright then, now we get up the top."
He tips his head back, looking up at the uppermost level. Probably a little further than his grappling hook can reach, at least in one go.
"How do you feel about taking the stairs? Little dull, don't you think?"
no subject
"Are there more options? / The elevators don't work, / at least ones I've seen."
He may be good at falling and landing, but he can only jump so high, my dude.
no subject
"There's another option."
The grin on Jacob's face, if possible, becomes all the bigger. He loves his Assassin Toys, and the grappling hook is one of his favourites, if only for the rush of using the thing. He straightens out his left arm, letting the other look at the gauntlet, and the aforesaid grapple.
"That'll get us up there. In a couple of jumps, anyway."
no subject
A holographic question mark pops up in front of Zer0's faceplate, which is quickly replaced by a an exclamation point because grappling hook gauntlet NICE. Zer0 leans in and inspects this puppy a little closer.
"Oh, that's very cool. / I haven't used hooks before, / could be exciting."
no subject
"Sounds like today's your lucky day." Jacob says, "Hold on."
And with that, his right arm goes around Zer0's middle, the left is aimed at one of the levels. There's no time to stop, to gasp, to even sure as the hook shoots out and the thin strong rope lashes itself around the railing that runs around the ledge. They're pulled upwards sharply, and in only a moment reach the level, and Jacob hauls them over onto the solid ground.
"Good, right?"
no subject
He dusts himself off a bit and glances down over the ledge, "I need to get one. / Efficient way to travel, / saves a load of time."
no subject
And occasionally when all else fails, harpoons people who want him dead. That's rather unpleasant though, so he tries to use it only for it's intended purpose.
"There's a few people here who could build you something like it. Angel for a start, she's an expert in guns but this has a firing mechanism and she's repaired it before now."
So perhaps she can put something together for him, if he wanted. But maybe he's the sort that likes to do that sort of thing himself.
no subject
"You're friends with Angel? / We both came from Pandora. / She's like, a goat now."
He sounds more impressed by this than anything else. She seems happy with her weird goat body, and Zer0's happy for her.
no subject
Jacob is still a little uncertain about that. But this guy doesn't gove him a bad feeling. Angel has explained to them that she didn't give anyone any choice, she engineered everything. Despite the fact he feels there should have been some other way, it's highly likely there wasn't any other options at the time.
"I think she's a deer. Not a goat. Sort of."
no subject
"It's weird either way, / but she seems happy with it, / even with the hooves."
