He does his best to follow, but despite that he gets the general gist, and some of it (calling himself Mercy, talking about killing people who are suffering to put them out of it) is familiar, Ben doesn't fully understand. He wants to support Cole, but to do that effectively, he needs to know what Cole is going through. So there is a tiny trace of frustration under the words when he sighs, "Listen, Cole. I'm trying to understand. I promise I am. But you're not really making it easy for me."

Ben isn't pulling Cole along so hard anymore, but he doesn't let go of his arm. He doesn't want Cole getting any ideas about turning around and going back, dwelling on what the nightmare had showed him.

"Just because some sadist called you a demon doesn't mean you are one. I- I don't entirely get what you're talking about but it sounds to me like you've been doing your best, to help people. To keep them safe or- or if they need help to die, doing that for them. I think that probably takes a hell of a lot of strength. So don't let - whatever that thing is twist you up around the stuff you're insecure about."
