[Closed] When all you do is work.....
Who: Takeshi Yamamoto and Julie Grigio
What: Yamamoto decides to check in on Julie and see if maybe he can get her interested in baseball in the coming month.
When: Late July
Where: Julie's residence
Warnings: Friendship, if you are ready for it come on in~
Yamamoto has made many new friends since coming to Anchor. Julie is one he sees more than any other, usually bumping into her when he goes to take care of the duties he has taken on in the agriculture zone. The last two days his schedule has been switched up; he was getting ready for a date with Hayato and had some last-minute touches to add. So while he was in to do his job, he was in at different times than he would have and had missed seeing her.
That's okay by him, gives him an excuse to stop and say hi and maybe bring up the subject of baseball. He is thinking he'd like to get some people together in the next month to play even if they can't make two full teams it should be fun. He gives a quick knock when he makes it to her place, a big smile on his face.

It was good for her, she supposed.
She's scrubbing the dirt off her hands after an afternoon digging about and pulling up some encroaching weeds when there's a knock, and she answers it with a towel in her hands.
"Oh, hey, stranger," she teases. "Didn't expect you."
no subject
He is also good at one-sided conversations, that same person who is close to him had his moments of being very non-verbal or otherwise annoyed by a persistent swordsman.
"Long time no see." He gives a laugh in greeting teasing back. "It'd been a couple of days, figured I'd stop and check-in."
no subject
That's kind of sweet. Maybe she's grown a bit too used to just having to look out for herself in this place. Keeping everyone at arms length will do that to you, but she hasn't really thought too much about it yet.
But she smiles, a little touched at the thoughtfulness, and steps back to gesture for him to come in if he wants to.
"I was just scrubbing half the AZ from under my nails but I can get you a drink or something."

Yamamoto enters, handing over a couple wrapped slices of cake he was able to get off the Daisy Darling. He is not always a traditional young man but he does have good manners that come from his culture.
"I'm always dragging that place home with me." He grins, he usually stops off and scrubs up before entering the Quad. "If it's not a bother, I brought cake."
no subject
For Julie, who went many years of her life without being able to eat cake at all, someone bringing her cake is a sure-fire way to make her smile.
"You know, you could have opened with that," she says, and she grins at him as she ushers him in through the door and closes it behind him. The towel is abandoned in the bathroom, and she moves immediately to open a cupboard.
"I can attempt tea, or coffee, but you might be safer with something I don't actually have to make."
no subject
"Got it, lead with cake." Noted and now it is a safe bet that if he comes across any cake, he'll be sharing some with Julie. He likes to make his friends happy.
"Milk?" It will always be his first request, it's his favorite drink, and everyone should enjoy it, he thinks. But also, "If not, I can show you how to make tea, my old man served it at the shop." Japanese Julie, let him teach you the way of tea. It will be glorious. His culture also means he'll toe his shoes off neatly near the door, those are not worn in the house usually.
no subject
"Really? Uh-- yeah, I have milk."
Another thing that she'd really missed - the last time she'd had milk before she started world-hopping was around ten years old. It just wasn't something that you really found anymore, and good luck getting a cow to come home with you.
"You can show me the tea thing later, though, yeah?"
no subject
Has to be strong this one or he'd be dead long before now. "Awesome! Yeah, it's my favorite."
Yeah, they had it in the future and tea but he has not had as much of it on Anchor as he would have if he was at home so he is always up for a glass.
"Definitely, it's really simple."
no subject
Julie tends to go for something a bit stronger, but she's been trying to cut back a little on the day drinking. It's not the same if you don't have someone to do it with (and Scaramouche is just a bad influence).
She comes back with a glass of milk and some water for herself, handing the former over to her guest.
"So, what brings you to my domicile?" she asks then, shooting a quick grin his way. "You really just checking in?"
no subject
"Thank you." He has seated himself by habit on the floor, with his legs crossed in front of him at the living room table.
"Yup, I was busy planning some special for Hayato and had to come up to the AZ late, so I figured we could hang out a little till I get back on my normal schedule" Then they will be working together, though he will probably still pop by.
no subject
She catches her thoughts drifting off before it shows too much on her face and flashes a slight grin Yamamoto's way.
"Aw, that's kinda sweet. At least I know you're not trying to keep out of my way." Her grin faces into a faint smile that lingers at the corners of her mouth but doesn't touch her eyes. "Do I get to hear the plan?"
no subject
"It was our first date, I set up a picnic and I was even able to barter him a piano. I think it was the best night of my life even better than the first time we kissed." He brightens up, clearly happy to gush a little about the young man who started his rival, became his friend, and is now his love.
no subject
Reminds her of old times, and how Perry was that kind of romantic at the start of their relationship. It hadn't lasted, but sometimes she thnks that the memory of how it used to be and the hope that it might be that way again was the only thing keeping them together.
It's kind of cute, though, to see Yamamoto gush like that.
"He's a lucky guy, having someone like you."
no subject
He is a gushing fountain of course it is also still early on and his first love. The world will poke at the young men and their relationship but if the light in his eyes says anything the swordsman will be fighting for it all the way.
"Thank you." His ear tips tinge a little pink as he beams at the compliment. "I will convince to come up to the AZ one day, I'd like you to meet him"
no subject
And yet, it stings somehow, because she remembers when she felt like that too.
"So, do you wanna share the cake?"
c a k e .
no subject
"Of course! It's Castella Cake, it's not as good as back home but they got it pretty close."
no subject
The way he says it, it souunds like it must be a special kind of cake... but she hasn't heard of it. She supplies them with a couple of plates and a knife and settles down on the couch.
"What makes it special enough to have a fancy name?"
no subject
It is a cake he had a lot growing up, he is not a big sweets person too much sugar with an optimistic hyper kid his dad definitely tried to keep the sugar intake down so it's one that makes him think of home. Yamamoto opens the box, revealing a light golden sponge cake. He slices it and makes sure Julie gets the biggest piece.
"We name all our foods I guess, there's the broader descriptor of Wagashi but there are a lot of those. Back home they make them in little molds so they come out in shapes, it's really neat. My old man used to bring them home as treats."
no subject
The first mouthful prompts a very clear sound of approval. When you don't have real cake in a while, it really hits you in a different way.
"God, I haven't had cake in ages," she says, shaking her head. "Last place I was at, there was an old guy who made pastries and stuff. Really good ones. But then he left, and no one took it up."
no subject
"It's really good, almost as good as the ones my old man gets." It would be better if he could share it with her in the sushi shop, surrounded by the smells of his childhood while his dad fixed them the best sushi in Japan as far as Yamamoto was concerned.
"That would suck, I don't eat them a lot but sometimes you just have to have a sweet, the girls back home used to have a cake day, it was cute. And they were always giving me gifts of sweets. It was really nice." it's called a fan club but he is unaware that most of those girls wanted to date the star baseball player with the big smile.
no subject
Because she hasn't found anything quite this good knocking around this place, and she really expects him to say that he made it. Julie's own baking skills are definitely not up to this kind of level, but that's only to be expected when flour and sugar are rare commodities in her home world.
Hold on, just give her a moment to have another mouthful.
"Heh, sounds like you were popular."
no subject
Judging by her reaction he was definitely right. Watch out world Yamamoto Takeshi is acting almost like he's got a brain.
"Huh, you think so? They used to do it for Hayato too but I'd say Tsuna was the most popular, we were all were around him."
no subject
It had seemed too good to be true as far as she was concerned, and as much as she doesn't like Anchor that much, she didn't want to end up stuck on a ship in space when being here is probably the only thing that's going to get her home.
Eventually. Maybe.
"Girls don't usually give guys sweets unless they like them, you know. Not that many."
no subject
The memory makes him laugh, they arrived when the Daisy Darling did so for Yamamoto and Gokudera it was a natural fixture and the boys both enjoyed the ship to the fullest, he could not have pulled off the date he did without it so in the end, he is grateful the ship was there.
He blinks, scratches a cheek then just grins.
"I guess they were my friends too, I just didn't hang out with them like Tsuna and everyone else."
Nope, he will probably never get it.
