[ Ben listens, silent but clearly interested. It is such a different approach, to how they had handled crime back in the Academy days. Slow, meticulous, thorough. Finding out how these organizations worked from the inside, rather than barging in and mangling whichever desperate lower-rung thugs were doing a job right at that moment. Ben has to imagine the undercover observation method has a lot less indiscriminate messy casualties, too. A lot of those casualties had been his doing, back when he was still alive ]

That's intense.

[ He'd said from what he heard. So he wasn't there to finish things, himself. Ben almost asks, but then he hesitates. It seems likely, to him, that the reasons why might not be a pleasant story to tell. Drake had been forthright with the details of the rest. The fact that he'd left out why he'd had to step away, or been taken off the assignment, means he probably doesn't want to get into it. Ben thinks it's probably best to let him have that privacy. ]

Probably not here, at least.

[ Ben says it with an air of 'that's one good thing about this whole crazy situation'. ]
