fishermansweater: (What's happening)

It's not like that. It's the best reassurance possible in the circumstances, though he has to wonder how the man knew to say it, knew the Capitol's lies had been in his mind. Not that they're secrets anymore; hadn't he told them to all of Panem to save Annie?

The way the strange man hugs himself is familiar, and so is the way that he rocks, out of the corner of Finnick's vision, the movement catching victor's senses and demanding notice. It's how Finnick had spent so much time over the first terrible weeks he'd been in District Thirteen, when he could think of nothing but Annie and the fear and pain she was in. It's how Annie collapses in on herself when she can't stand the thought of what's outside of the circle of her arms.

"Okay," he agrees, his voice distinctly softer now in recognition of whatever kinship between their experiences the familiarity indicates. Finnick looks around the room one last time before he steps through the door, following in the quiet footsteps of the man.

"Is it far?"
